In 1995 Byron Salvatierra started working in an organization in the South of Quito which helps children living in poverty. After gaining this work experience, he decided to found an organization assisting children and social projects: UBECI came to life in 1999.
The first project UBECI developed, explicitly concentrates on educational support for challenged children in the suburbs of Quito. With the help of Archie Jarman (USA), UBECI has grown since then and the project supports about 40 children by now.
UBECI has dedicated its work to helping children confronted with social, financial or educational problems. Situated in the poorer parts of Quito and faced with poverty every day, UBECI has come to understand the necessity of lending a hand to the poorer people of the Ecuadorian society.
