The "School Support Program" we have developed takes place in Quito's countryside, the community Santa Isabel. This program offers summer school to poor children in this area during their vacation, and homework supervision and English classes throughout the school year.
We have created this program to give these children a chance to receive strong support in their education, which often they cannot receive in their homes because of different obstacles their families are confronted with. Many families in the community live in poverty and face problems like unemployment, illiteracy, migration, drug or alcohol abuse and violence. Therefore, many of the families are not aware of the importance of education or are incapable of helping their children with their homework.
With the "School Support Program" we give these children a chance to keep up in school, to discover the advantages and especially the pleasure of learning and in addition to that, we can also show their parents the positive consequences of a good education.
